AMERICAN RIVER/above Folsom Lake The National Forests are open once again, but there are still several areas closed due to restoration from last summers Mosquito Fire. The flows are stabilizing at 1816 cfs at Chili Bar, but the river is off-colored and muddy from the runoff from the fire-damaged areas. The river is catch-and-release barbless hooks with no bait until the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend in 2023.AMERICAN RIVER/Sacramento Flows have dropped almost two feet to 4,980 cfs, and the river is quickly becoming fishable. Andy at Kienes Fly Shop in Sacramento reported 1.5 to 2 feet of visibility near Sailor Bar, with high off-color water and low steelhead numbers.
