About

Located in Cheyenne along Interstate Highway 25 these lakes offer fishing, non-motorized boating and recreation through the summer months, and ice fishing and ice skating in the winter.

Absarraca Lake is adjacent to Interstate 25 and Sloan Lake is visible from the road about 1,000 feet to the southeast.

Both lakes feature fishing docks, boat ramps, and clear shoreline for fishing. They contain rainbow trout, bluegill, catfish, and largemouth bass.

Techniques & Tips

These lakes offer good fishing morning and afternoon. Nightcrawlers, worms, leeches, Salmon eggs, cheese, and Powerbait all work well since these are stocked fish.

Trout hit well on light tackle spinning rods with smaller Panther Martin, Blue Fox, and Mepps spinners.

Bass fishing is good in the evening with crankbaits, plastic worms, and poppers.

Catfish prefer blood baits in liver and beef flavor or chicken livers set on a #6 or larger hook with a split shot attached.

Bluegill will strike on waxworms, earthworms, nightcrawlers, and leeches.
